Emissions

Etsy measured its GHG emissions in order to understand its impact on the climate and inform its plans to reduce GHGs over time.

Emissions intensity

Etsy's emissions inventory uses a mix of spending and activity-based data. An independent third party verification ensures accuracy and completeness of the inventory. The Change Climate team reviews the submission for compliance with the Standard.

In its 2025 Integrated Annual Report, Etsy measures and reports emissions across its marketplace. Reported location-based Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions totaled 417,580 tCOâ‚‚e in 2025, which accounted for all of Etsy's sellers' shipping and packaging activities. For The Climate Label certification, Etsy's total emissions figure excludes Scope 3, Category 11 (per the measurement boundary in The Climate Label Certification Standard). The adjusted total emissions figure also excludes a portion of sellers' shipping emissions, which are adjusted to reflect Etsy's share of revenue from seller transactions. This adjustment, supported by relevant guidance in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, reflects the scope of Etsy's operations, which have only partial operational control over sellers' shipping activities. Together these two adjustments result in a location-based emissions total of 160,262 tCOâ‚‚e for 2025.

Etsy operates two-sided online marketplaces: The Etsy marketplace is the global destination for unique, creative goods from independent sellers, and Depop, a leading fashion resale marketplace. Our mission is to Keep Commerce Human. That means making a positive impact on the lives of our buyers, sellers, and their communities — including taking steps to protect the planet we all call home. That’s why we support climate solutions that reduce our emissions, and we take responsibility for the emissions we continue to produce through projects that improve air quality and cut emissions beyond our business. Our Climate Label certification helps us clearly and credibly communicate our work.
