## Sustainability story

JuneShine started from a simple question: Why do we know so much about the food we eat, but not the alcohol we drink? We decided to change that with JuneShine. From Day 1, sustainability has been our focus. We donate 1% of sales to environmental nonprofits through 1% For the Planet, our brewery runs on 100% renewable solar energy with SDG&E Power 100 program, and we compost at our brewery. We publish annual sustainability goals around water usage, energy usage, waste emissions, and CO2 emissions to keep ourselves accountable. We are thrilled to now be working on our Change Climate certification and truly say our business is contributing the same amount (sometimes more) of carbon offsets to match our GHG emissions measured through certifying

## Emissions (2025)

**Methodology:** JuneShine's emissions inventory uses a mix of spending and activity-based data. JuneShine attests to the accuracy of their data inputs and the Change Climate team reviews the submission for compliance with the Standard.

## Reduction plans

### Science-aligned targets
- We commit to reducing 2021 Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions 50% by 2030. (completion: 100%)

### Reduction action plans
- **Scope 1** — We plan to replace our gas powered equipment to electric powered (source: Energy at offices or controlled facilities, target: Q4 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 1** — We plan to recapture CO2 from our brewing process and remove any CO2 leaks found in our equipment (source: Energy at offices or controlled facilities, target: Q2 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 2** — We plan to reduce emissions from purchasing electricity from renewable energy resources (source: Electricity, target: Q4 2021, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Our plan is to reduce an ingredient in our brewing process that is being shipped from Africa. Our reduction goal is to reduce this ingredient by 50% and cut our shipping orders by 50%. This goal is set for Q3 2022. (source: Raw materials, target: Q3 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 2** — We plan to reduce our CO2 emissions by recapturing our off-gassing CO2 from fermentation, which is roughly 1,000,000lbs of CO2 off-gassed through fermentation. (source: Energy at offices or controlled facilities, target: Q3 2023, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Implement a low carbon sourcing/purchasing policy to purchase raw materials from domestic suppliers across 80% of ingredients for the production of JuneShine. (source: Raw materials, target: Q1 2024, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Increase storage space for raw materials to enable full trucks of raw materials to be delivered to controlled facilities. We plan on increasing our storage for cold raw ingredients by 25% (40pallets). (source: Upstream shipping, target: Q4 2023, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Improve zero waste operations in house by working with suppliers to receive recyclable, compostable, or reusable packaging in our supply chain at all controlled locations. (source: Operational waste, target: Q4 2024, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 2** — We plan to procure a new boiler that can run more efficient to lower our steam usage by 10% to produce a unit of JuneShine products. (source: Electricity, target: Q4 2025, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 2** — Implement solar energy at our controlled facility to reduce our energy pull by ~50% by Q4 2026 (source: Electricity, target: 2025, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 3** — Revamp our purchasing policy to lower MOQs to create less obsolete inventory exposure by forecasting conservatively in Q1 of 2026 (source: Reduce obsolete packaging materials, target: 2026, completion: 0%)
