## Sustainability story

MyHEAT is an energy software start-up based in Calgary, Alberta, focused on Energy Made Visible. Our mission is to empower a worldwide reduction in urban greenhouse gas emissions, one building at a time. Our award-winning thermal infrared HEAT Maps help our customers (utilities and government agencies) to focus on reducing energy consumption, improving energy literacy and equity, and saving money by reducing energy waste. MyHEAT's business model means that the more successful we are, the more potential we have to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). We estimate we have the global potential to scale to a reduction of 0.5 to 1 gigaton of GHGs annually.

## Emissions (2024)

**Methodology:** MyHEAT's emissions inventory uses a mix of spending and activity-based data. MyHEAT attests to the accuracy of their data inputs and the Change Climate team reviews the submission for compliance with the Standard.

## Reduction plans

### Reduction action plans
- **Scope 2** — We aim to reduce the grid carbon intensity of the energy consumed on-site by working with our landlord to encourage them to opt in to a clean energy procurement program from the local utility or alternative community energy provider like Bullfrog Power. (source: Electricity, target: Q1 2022, completion: 20%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce employee commuting emissions by introducing a bike-to-work rebate program. (source: Employee commuting, target: Q4 2021, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 2** — We plan to reduce emissions from on-site electricity consumed at our office. (source: Electricity, target: Q4 2022, completion: 25%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce emissions from our aerial data acquisition. (source: Software and servers, target: Q1 2023, completion: 75%)
- **Scope 3** — Implement a low carbon sourcing/purchasing policy to explore options to procure and use sustainable aviation fuel across our aerial data acquisition. (source: Data acquistion, target: Q3 2024, completion: 15%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to increase the use cases for data acquired to extend the useful life of said data and reduce the carbon impact per dollar spent on aerial mapping. Our goal will be to increase the number of active data years per project from a current average of 3 to 5. (source: Data acquisition, target: Q3 2024, completion: 40%)
- **Scope 3** — Transition hosting services to low carbon/renewable energy supplied data regions across our core apps. (source: Software and servers, target: Q1 2026, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 3** — Implement a policy for low-carbon business travel to require employees to choose lowest flight carbon intensity when possible. (source: Business travel, target: Q2 2025, completion: 0%)
