## Sustainability story

Here at Native Maps, our main material is paper - and we choose our paper very carefully. All of our paper is made with hydroelectric energy from the family-owned, US-based French Paper Company. All of our paper has recycled or FSC certified content. We love paper because it is infinitely recyclable, so we transitioned all of our shipping materials to recycled paper and cardboard - which also means that our packaging is 100% recyclable. Offsetting our carbon footprint is the final step in owning - and taking pride in - our process from start to finish.

## Emissions (2023)

**Methodology:** Native Maps's inventory uses spending data to estimate GHG emissions. Native Maps attests to the accuracy of their data inputs and the Change Climate Project team reviews the submission for compliance with the Standard.

## Reduction plans

### Reduction action plans
- **Scope 2** — Reduce the amount of electricity used at studio. (source: Electricity, target: Q1 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Reduce upstream shipping by sourcing from local manufacturers for shipping supplies and cardboard. (source: Upstream shipping, target: Q4 2021, completion: 70%)
- **Scope 1** — We will work with a local historic window restoration company, a general contractor, and with the City of Knoxville to create a plan to implement the window restoration to replace 25% of the windows in the building. (source: Energy at offices or controlled facilities, target: Q1 2023, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Implement native plant landscaping on the west facade of the building, eliminating the need for fuel-powered lawn care for around 1000 sq ft. (source: Goods & services, target: Q4 2023, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 3** — Reduce emissions from downstream shipping (source: Downstream shipping, target: Q4 2020, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Reduce shipping materials made from plastic. (source: Packaging, target: Q4 2020, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Reduce non-recycled paper used in production. (source: Raw materials, target: Q4 2020, completion: 80%)
- **Scope 1** — We will apply for a historic preservation grant (again) to replace another 25% of the windows on the facade to create a better weather seal and reduce overall electrical consumption. (source: Energy at offices or controlled facilities, target: Q2 2024, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 2** — We will plant 2 trees on the south side of the building to shade the structure and reduce electrical use over time. (source: Electricity, target: Q4 2023, completion: 0%)
