## Sustainability story

Formula first, sustainability always. Seed Phytonutrients believes that beauty can, and should be, sustainable. That's why they commit to offsetting and reducing their carbon footprint annually, using recyclable packaging for all of their products, and partnering with Pact to recycle the packaging components that you can't recycle at home. Seed feels that it's their responsibility to lead the way and promote environmental sustainability for the beauty industry as a whole.

## Emissions (2024)

**Methodology:** Seed Phytonutrients's inventory uses spending data to estimate GHG emissions. Seed Phytonutrients attests to the accuracy of their data inputs and the Change Climate Project team reviews the submission for compliance with the Standard.

## Reduction plans

### Science-aligned targets
- We commit to reducing 2022 Scope 1 & 2 emissions 50% by 2030 (completion: 0%)

### Reduction action plans
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce emissions from purchased plastic for product packaging by eliminating our 250ml and 75ml paper bottles (with plastic liners) and replace them with aluminum bottles. (source: Packaging, target: Q4 2021, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce emissions by eliminating work with 2 contract manufacturers that produced formulas for us in the past. We will re-engineer these formulas and produce in-house to reduce excess shipping and unconctrolled fuel / energy use. (source: Supply chain energy use, target: Q2 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce emissions from our downstream shipping to our customers by producing our top selling formulas in larger bottles which can be used on their own, or to refill smaller bottles at home, and price them at a lower cost vs our current size. (source: Downstream shipping, target: Q4 2023, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce shipping emissions by incentivizing consumers to switch from liquid cleansers to lightweight, concentrated powder cleansers. (source: Downstream shipping, target: Q4 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — We plan to reduce emissions from retail size (250ml) bottles of our shampoo and conditioner being sold by offering bulk to bulk stores where consumers come and fill their own packaging (source: Packaging, target: Q4 2022, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — We will streamline our large assortment by discontinuing select SKUs in an effort to minimize the use and purchase of packaging, raw materials and overall emmissions. (source: Raw materials, target: Q4 2023, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Work with manufacturer to consolidate component, raw material and finished good inventory that is currently being stored in a separate warehouse. This consolidation will reduce energy and carbon emissions by utilizing an existing warehouse space. (source: Supply chain energy use, target: Q1 2024, completion: 100%)
- **Scope 3** — Implement a policy for remote work for all employees in all locations. (source: Employee commuting, target: Q4 2024, completion: 0%)
- **Scope 3** — Set a maximum budget for expedited shipping to 5% across all shipments including customers and wholesale. (source: Downstream shipping, target: Q4 2024, completion: 0%)
